Review: Born This Way.. Foundation

Hey lovelies,

I recently picked up this item from my local Debenhams store.. I actually waited until the hype around this product died down before purchasing.

So if you aren’t aware Youtuber Jackie Aina collaborated to extend the Born This Way foundation range.

Why is that big news?!

This is big news because when Too Faced first launched their Born This Way Foundation there was no shade for those of us who are dark skinned. After going away, re-evaluating they then came back a second time with some darker shades, but honestly it wasn’t enough.

The third time they decided to go back, re-evaluate and this time bring in the gorgeous Jackie Aina to collaborate with them. Goshhh yess.. that is what was needed.

A bit more about Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

A make up icon, Born This Way Foundation by Too Faced offers medium-to-full, undetectable coverage that’s become rightfully famous. Inspired by the ‘I woke up like this’ beauty mantra, Too Faced set out on a mission to create a flawlessly natural-looking foundation – and Born This Way is the result. The luscious liquid formula is enhanced with gorgeous, skin-loving ingredients: coconut water helps to replenish skin’s moisture levels without overburdening it, alpine rose brightens and promotes elasticity and hyaluronic acid provides long-lasting hydration for a more youthful appearance. The 35-strong shade range is versatile enough to suit a wide array of skin tones: there’s everything from Cocoa to Porcelain, via Caramel, Almond and Sand.

So the collaboration with Jackie Aina brought out 11 new shades from pale to the deepest and darkest of shades. Amazing.. uhhh! This isn’t only a big deal for women of colour but it’s a big deal for the beauty industry as a whole. I’m shooketh. But other than Fenty Beauty, this means Too Faced Born This Way Foundation the most diverse brand.

New Shade, who’s this?!

So I used my friends as a tool to decide what my shade was lol (crazy huh). I finally decided on the shade Chai. This is a yellow moderate yellow undertone, for dark skin tone but is described as Deep Golden.

Availability and price

The Born This Way Foundation can be purchased from literally anywhere e.g Selfridges, Debenhams, John Lewis even online at ASOS lol.

Now when it comes to pricing, this item is priced at £29.00 for 30ml – which is fairly priced.

So sis.. is it worth the hype?!

The fact that there are 11 more shades makes it worth the hype. But on a serious note, since purchasing this item I can say it is in fact worth all the hype. I’m so happy that Too Faced decided to collaborate with Jackie Aina on this one, honestly.

That’s all from me guys!

Let me know if you’ve tried the Too Faced collection, if so, what’s your thoughts?

Love you, guys!

  1. I’ve been obsessed with this foundation even before Jackie’s collab. When she chose this foundation to put her name on, it solidified my trust in her recommendation of quality products. Born this way is one of the few full coverage foundations that actually looks natural on me
